Things I've Learned This Week

Things I've Learned This Week ...

Some people will be rewarded despite their terrible work ethic. That doesn't mean you stop working. Just keep getting better and do that for YOURSELF. If someone notices how awesome you are and how hard you're working, that's just a plus!

Some people will judge another's life and become annoyed with another's troubles. That's an easier choice than caring, I suppose. I'll choose to keep asking what people need and doing my best to help, even if it's just a kind word. Even when it's difficult or inconvenient.

Even when you're burned for being generous, don't stop. Guard your heart, but keep giving. Don't let one sasshole ruin your generosity for everyone else. Compassionate leadership is not dictated by the results of said leadership.... the results should be observed but the compassion always has to be there, no matter what the results. You have to keep going. Be the light. ;-)

2016 in Review

2016...
Hah.
January: Kicked butt at producing and starring in Oleanna with my amazing friends Kier and Chris. (And Bonnie too!)

February: Amazing SFG conference and Miscast Caberet where I got to sing some dream songs with the amazing Kirby and company.

March: Fall of the sparrow and hip surgery #1 LPAO and labral tear repair.
(And I also found out we were expecting my Nephew!)

April: Recovery. I did my taxes on time too. I puked the entire month.

May: More recovery and started PT. Went back to work! Also puked most of this month.

June: Set and props designing for Capital Liar and getting back into the swing of things onstage rehearsing Greek Myths with Jeff and Marci! Also a super fun Gender Reveal party with my brother and sister in law... ITS A BUCK!
July: Greek Myths every Saturday, capital liar opens, and rehearsing The Red Pill Diaries!
AugustBadi's birthday! Opening of red pill diaries and at the end of the month, hip surgery #2: RPAO. This one went much better puked for 1 month this time, not two.

:-)

September: tattoo time, Recovery, tons of PT, and at the end of the month, Cassandra and James gave me the best gift ever: my nephew Peyton.

October: Rehearsals begin for How I Learned to Drive, combined with political hell surrounding us all.

November: trumperdink. One year anniversary! Waves of depression peppered with sheer happiness. KILLED How I Learned to Drive, and had another round of the kiddos to play for Greek Myths, including Dagny's Wild and Zany Birthday! Also moved into our new apartment.

:-)
December: Christmas Carol fun:-) and Badi's awesome temp job at UPS meant we paid the bills on time for one whole month. And we drove to Tennessee to give donations to some of my old friends who lost their homes.

It was a tough one, but it was a good one. I can't believe that I WALK, guys. It's insane. Pretty dang pain free most of the time too, which is insanely fast.

If you were there for me, you were really freakin THERE and oh my gosh, I never coulda done it without you... even if you were just cheering on the sidelines... thank you.
And if you weren't, I'm sorry for you. This is been a really great year of growth for me and I hate you've missed it. Hope it was well for you. And thank YOU too, hurt is good for making me tough. I don't wish for it, but I'll sure as hell use it if you give it to me.
Now to watch one more silly white girl attempt Imagine... at least we're consistent! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

A few quick reviews! I LOVE ASHEVILLE THEATRE

Last weekend I had the pleasure of seeing "Much Ado About Nothing" directed by Scott Keel at the Montford Park Players. My boo thang, Devyn, is in this one as the PERFECT Beatrice... along with an equally stellar cast!  Check it out if you get a chance. Runs the ENTIRE month of June, and it FREE and amazing! :-)

Another one I saw this weekend...Brief Encounters at Magnetic 375.  5 short one act plays written by local artists. I am proud to be from this awesome town where weird theatre is embraced! Ya'll should for sure check this one out and stay till the VERY end for my favorite of the five.

Also had the fine opportunity to check out the newest musical at ACT... and its so so wonderful. Bradshaw, I love you.

This weekend... checking out Legally Blonde (again... yes its that good... DAMN TAYLOR!!!) and also Mountaintop by Katori Hall starring my love Kirby Gibson!
